Selection and recruitment are essential for each organization. They are considered the main pillars for a successful human resource strategy. Many have changed with regard to selection and recruitment strategies and definitely, these strategies differ from MNCs to small businesses. Country context, labour laws, rules and regulations, NGO pressures, etc. all play a role in determining to a certain extent what to consider when recruiting and selecting staff. In certain contexts, gender equality is a must, in others, women are still struggling to secure employment. In certain contexts, equal opportunities regardless of race, ethnic beliefs, religion or even some genetic disorders are sacred. In other contexts, we still consider some people as being inferior or incapable just due to their colour, nationality, looks, etc.

Choose ONE company from the local, regional or international context to answer the question below in a word limit of 1,500 words. Your answer has to be in essay format with an introduction, body and conclusion.

Before choosing a company to study and analyze, make sure to do your own research and ensure that the information needed for this essay is available. This is very important since this essay does not only rely only on course material but on external resources that you will be choosing.

Selecting and recruiting the right staff is a primordial component for a successful human resources strategy. However, this is not an easy task to be done and requires a lot of planning and knowing what is needed to achieve the company’s goals. That is why many companies found themselves having recruited the wrong person due to the lack of a good recruitment and selection strategy.

Based on Human resources course material and external resources, discuss for the company you have chosen, the recruitment and selection strategies. Where did these strategies change after the covid-19 pandemic?

Hint:

  • From a recruitment perspective, you have to cover/discuss mainly different employees’ groups, how to manage diversity, RJP, signalling, employment branding and e-recruitment.
  • From a selection strategy, you need to discuss job analysis, selection technique and validity
  • You need to clearly choose a company & describing the chosen company (name, line of work, MNC or small business, etc.).
  • Your discussion should not only be based on the slide-relevant course material. You need to refer as well to the company you have chosen and explain how they are recruiting staff (which employees’ groups and how selection might differ from one group to another, how they are managing diversity, and to which extent they use e-recruitment and refer to employment branding.
  • You HAVE TO SUPPORT your discussion with external resources that allow you to support your discussion and validate your point of view.
  • These are only HINTS. So don’t limit your discussion to what is mentioned. Think outside the box to achieve the desired outcome from this essay; that is determining recruitment and selection strategies and how they might have differed due to the covid-19 pandemic.
