Case of Jessica: Bipolar I Disorder

Case of Jessica: Bipolar I Disorder

Overview

The goal of this discussion is for you to explore and analyze the psychopathological aspects of bipolar affective disorder I (BPAD-I), including its diagnostic criteria, disease course, risks/prognosis, and appropriate intervention plans. This exercise aims to enhance your understanding of BPAD-I and its management in clinical practice. Refer to the DSM-5-TR textbook during your analysis.

Assignment Instructions

For this assignment, you will view the Alexander Street video Case of Jessica, Bipolar I. For your initial post, construct a table that includes a section for each of the numbered items defined below, 1 through 4, and include the responses to each bullet below for each. Your post will include a BPAD-I diagnosis synopsis of the psychopathological disease process (refer to the Stahl textbook as an additional resource), the associated diagnostic criteria (symptoms), disease course, two elements of disease risks/prognosis, and your proposed intervention plans for both a recommended pharmacotherapy (psychotropic medication) and an appropriate psychotherapy type. Lastly, provide one differential diagnosis (to BPAD-I) that may be appropriate in this case scenario and explain the rationale. Your responses will be based upon the Alexander Street video reenactments reviewed. Post your completed table to the Discussion Forum. For additional support, refer to and utilize the textbook readings and study materials in this course when formulating your responses.
