Discussion Questions Reaction Paper
Topic: indicate the major issues and concepts associated with psychoactive drugs
Description and Instructions
Pick a topic (or topics*) of interest out of the text chapter(s), videos/animations, or DQs and discuss. The topic(s) you choose must relate directly to the course. If the connection to the course seems unclear, make it clear in your paper. The following are a few suggestions on what to write:
- What you think about a particular topic.
- Is there something in the news or something you or a friend has experienced that directly relates to something in class? How does it relate?
- Is there something that was discussed in class that you had a thought about but did not mention in a DQ?
Basically and MOST IMPORTANTLY, show me that you have THOUGHT about the topic(s). Don’t summarize; I’ve read the book and DQs and viewed the videos and animations. Tell me what you are thinking.
[place-order]
In each paper, you may write about more than one topic.
I am interested in you learning the course material rather than memorizing it. These reaction papers give you an opportunity to make sure you understand the concept you are talking about. Also, I want you to THINK about the material we are covering, not just accepting it or denying it. Ask yourself questions like, “Why is it that way? If that is true, would this also be true?” I do not want you to simply absorb what the talk-show experts tell you about psychology and everyday life. I want you to have enough knowledge about psychology that you will be able to deduce who may be saying something valuable and who is not. Knowledge is not just about knowing information, knowledge is also having the ability to question – knowing what questions to ask and how to ask them. Saying “I disagree with that; I don’t think that’s true” is not going to get it done unless you have reason to back up your beliefs. Use these reaction papers to learn information and to practice questioning.
