For this assignment you will investigate the role of operations management and information systems in the delivery of effective business operations.

You will conduct web and online library research to establish how organisations use or could use principles and good practice drawn from operations management and enterprise systems to efficiently deliver quality services/products to clients.

We recommend you focus your research on a specific organisation (for example, the Red Cross) or a single market/industry sector (for example, automotive manufacture).

You will create an infographic summarising your findings

Infographics are graphical representations of complex information that rely upon visual elements to clearly and concisely communicate data, concepts, and/or ideas to diverse audiences.

Infographics use evidence- and practice-based data, compelling statistics, easy-toread fonts, complimentary color schemes, simple charts, bold graphs, and other graphics to disseminate information in quick and easily digestible format Lankow, 2012 in Shanks, et al., 2017

Task

Your infographic will link theory and practice and will consider each of the following:

• Identification of key business processes and the impact of volume, variety and variability.
• Examples of models and techniques from operations management that would be useful in this context together with potential business benefits.
• Examples of uses of enterprise systems in the organisation/sector including benefits and potential risks.
• The future challenges for operations management and enterprise systems in your chosen organisation/sector
• Evidence, examples and citations will be used throughout and a full list of references will be provided at the end of your infographic. You may use numbered footnotes exceptionally for this assignment to ensure the elegance of your infographic.
