Assessment Description:
An individual essay on the principles of layout and flow, and how these are impacted by Covid-19.
This assessment allows you to engage with academic sources and evaluate how operations concepts are evident in practice. This task will encourage you to read into relevant literature and gather illustrative data to support your evaluation.
As covered in class, processes and layouts will be aligned to volume-variety requirements. Firstly, provide an overview of your selected organisation/process and then provide a typical 4Vs illustration with supporting analysis, for your selected organisation.
Secondly, identify the original process type(s) and layouts before going on to assess how these have changed due to Covid-19. Please support your assessment of these changes with visual evidence (drawings/photographs).
Finally, as a user of the process, comment on the effectiveness of these changes, drawing from the data you have provided.
You are expected to define your concepts using academic sources and use visual data to support your assessment of changes and effectiveness.
The assessment is due in week 7 on Thursday 29th October before 12.00 (GMT), i.e. 16.00 in Dubai.
This report is to be 1500 words, contains a minimum of five references and is worth 40% of your overall grade. Formatting style should be ‘Arial’, 12pt and 1.5 line spacing. The language used must be third person, formal, so therefore presented in an academic style.
Submission of Coursework: An electronic PDF or Word file of your coursework MUST be submitted to the correct Turnitin link (via the Assessment area on VISION). Turnitin will be used as the actual date stamp of submission. No hard copy of your work is required even if you are based on campus.
