Sports Management: Sports Facility
Working in pairs or individually- If working in pairs you are to work virtually- no meeting in person, students will create a new multipurpose sports facility of your choice. If working with a partner, you will decide as a team which components of the project each member of the team will be responsible for. You will be required to complete the necessary research to help you formulate your plan for your facility. Depending upon the type of facility you choose to create, you should research similar types of facilities, and specifically the various components that you will be working on.
This project will be the culmination of the work that we have done during the semester, along with the independent research and work that you will complete. There is no final exam, just the final project so it accounts for a significant portion of your final grade. Consequently, I expect a significant amount of time and energy to be put towards this project. Review your work for typos and grammatical errors.
- Facility name & type (come up with a name for your facility)
- Individual responsibilities
Each section of this project should contain a written explanation with proper APA citation of the sources used to obtain the information you researched pertaining to each individual component. Also, any diagrams or drawings must be included to help explain each component of the facility (recommend using free facility design apps, I will not accept hand drawings).
Project should include:
- Type of multipurpose facility with facility name and approximate size (in total square footage)
- Organization mission, goals & objectives (make up a suitable mission statement based on the goals/objectives of your facility)
- Explain facility use and purpose
- Info about clientele
- Detailed floor plan (indoor, outdoor, or both) Floor plan must be created or use one that already exists. However you will receive more points if you create one. Be sure your floor plan matches your description. I will show the class some examples- (possible example of tools to create floorplan- https://www.smartdraw.com(Links to an external site.) https://floorplanner.com/ (Links to an external site.) or https://floorplancreator.net/ (Links to an external site.)
- Use Google Earth to indicate approximate location of the facility
- The parking that will be available
- Estimated cost to build the facility, where will funding come from (be specific & realistic about the exact amount allocated from what sources- This will require you research other similar facilities to see their cost)

- Activity & ancillary areas- Courts, fields, rooms (locker room, fitness, laundry room, classrooms, athletic training room, etc.)- include size of each area
- Equipment in each area & cost
