American Government Political Parties
PURPOSE
The purpose of this assignment is to have you navigate the internet to look for information about the two major political parties in American Govt. I want you to be able to find this information once class is over so that you can be an informed voter.
KNOWLEDGE
This homework is designed to help students evaluate the roles of political parties in the American political system and identify ways in which political parties help citizens participate in civic engagement.
TASKS
Please go to the official websites of the Democratic (www.democrats.org ) and Republican Parties (www.gop.com), and answer the following questions. (You do not need to provide personal information. Please by-pass that section of the websites)
- What are two ways these websites seeks to promote individual participation? You must provide specific examples from the websites.
- What are two ways that these websites share their own party’s views? Please provide specific examples from the websites. They do not have to be the same for the two parties. In most, if not all, cases, party platforms vary in some way.
- Do you think it is worthwhile to cast a third-party vote in the United States? Why or why not?

- Answers should be written 100% in your own words so that I can assess understanding. Do not copy or quote answers directly from your sources. Please re-state or paraphrase. This assignment allows me to assess comprehension.
