Analysis of Consumer Behavior in the Marketplace

Identify an existing or potential consumer behavior in the marketplace, broadly construed, that interests you. Your goals in this paper are as follows:

  1. describe your chosen consumer behavior, with sufficient specificity and connection to course concepts
  2.  justify why this is an interesting consumer behavior to study
  3. propose an experiment (or A/B test) that could influence this consumer behavior
  4. describe the possible findings that your experiment could show
  5.  predict which finding you think is most likely and why other findings are less likely.

The Week 0 slides provide an example of this (see slides 11 and 12). Consult me for guidance any time if you would like feedback on your ideas.

3, Evaluation Criteria

In terms of evaluation, I will focus on (a) how well you demonstrate a grasp of the scientific method, (b) the relevance of your proposed experiment to consumer behavior, and of course (c) how persuasive you are in defending your preferred prediction against other possible predictions.

In short, there are two broad features of your papers that I will be evaluating:

What is your position, how clear is it throughout the paper, and is it persuasive to the reader? – Have you successfully dissuaded the reader of other possible positions?
