NZTech is a New Zealand company which provides IT technology solutions and gives the best products and service to its customers. This is a New Zealand-owned business with offices in Auckland, Christchurch and Tauranga.
Staff from NZTech travel New Zealand wide to support their clients across the country, taking the time to get to know their clients and the business. With over 400 customers, they have a variety of clients among small businesses. These small businesses employ anywhere between five to a hundred employees.
This company has many customers in the not-for-profit and government sector with more than 350 employees needing enterprise-wide support, infrastructure and services. NZTech provides excellent service and efficiently protects customer data.
Since COVID-19, there may be a requirement from time to time for employees to work from home. The company needs to make sure that the professional, legal and ethical principles and practices are maintained in a socially responsible manner.
You are working at the above company as IT Support Staff and have been asked to present a report to your colleagues on data protection laws and the professional, legal, and ethical IT principles and practices expected of an IT professional.
Task 1 (LO1): Research the laws and principles and write a report on your findings. The report must contain:
- A discussion of data protection laws in New Zealand. Give at least three examples of how data protection laws can be applied in the given scenario
- An outline of the professional, legal, and ethical IT principles and practices, including guidelines from the IITP Code of Ethics and the IITP Code of Practice and a discussion on IITP Breaches of conduct with examples.
- A discussion on how to apply these principles and practices in a socially responsible manner in the given scenario
Your report should be 1000-1200 words (+/-10%).
