Assessment 2: Critical Analysis of Literature
Task Details/Description:
In this coursework students are required to select a topic Operations Management. Within the selected topic, there are different approaches that can be taken. The student will need to discuss the pros and cons of the approaches under analysis, supporting their argument using relevant academic literature and other relevant sources when applicable. The task consists of:
- Choosing an operations management topic,
- Searching and selecting at least 3 papers that analyses the application of the same theory/topic from operations management,
- Analysing the selected papers and summarizing the key findings,
- Critique – highlight the pros and cons, and
- Draw implications for practice.
Module Learning Outcomes Assessed:
- Understand the importance of operations management and its theoretical bases.
- Know what the key decision-making areas in operations management are and be able to apply these to different contexts.
- Discuss the role operations management and operations managers play in managing organisational resources.
- Evaluate the contribution that operations management makes to performance and organisational improvement

- Word Count: 1800 words (excluding appendices, diagrams, figures, and tables which are not included in the word count).
