Business 101: Introduction to Business
The Four Projects for Business 101
There will be Four Major Projects submitted and required for Business 101. They are Vocabulary Words and Definitions, The Book Report, The Article Review and the Treasure Map. These will all be due at the Last Deadline at the end of the class. This is known as the Portfolio Method. The Projects are to be submitted in Microsoft Word only with no zip files. Each should have a cover page with your fist and last name, your phone number, course, date, and the name of the project. They can be submitted as one file for one file for each project. The will go to the drop box that you see or one at the end of the modules for the Chapters 1 – 14 & 17. You can scan these in on a scanner or use a free app on your phone called CamScanner. The Treasure Map is submitted via picture from a cell phone and usually submitted as a jpg. file.
- The Vocabulary words and definitions are in the margins of the Text. Understanding Business by Nichols, McHugh & McHugh. Hand write or type the words and definition. There should be ten words and definitions from each chapter for a total of 150 words and definitions. To receive credit these must all be done. Each chapter should be labeled Chapter 1, 2, 3, and so on. This is to assist you in learning vocabulary and important concepts in the field of business. These are to be copied word for word.
- The Book Report is for the book Automatic Millionaire by David Bach, the 2016 edition that has been updated. You will read the book and submit a two-page double spaced typed summary and opinion of the book. It should be two full pages and show that you understood the concepts with in the book and that you have either positive or negative opinions on the book and its concept. Please put in specific concepts that you liked and or disliked and how you might use these in the future if you find them helpful.
- The Article Review is a copy of an article on Personal Finance. It should be something that affects you as a person. The reason this is important is that everyone is in business for themselves like it or not. This is most clearly shown at retirement age. It is best to think and look forward to understand why business as a field is so important to you and your family. This article should be taken from CNN Money.com or Money Magazine or Kiplingers. The format is two pages double spaced typed summary and opinion.
- The last project is perhaps the most important. It is called a Treasure Map. This is a project that visualizes your goals and life. It puts the pieces together and it has been very successful with all of my students. The reason is in life we reinvent our life and occupation and lifestyle several times even into retirement. What does your life and your dreams look like? How do you bring it all together? It has been shown the 5% of people with written and or visual goals wit deadline accomplish more than the other 95% put together. This will in fact help you understand and accomplish what you want in life. It is a design of your creation for your life. (Please see attached detail on this project)
