Part 1: Bowen Family Systems Theory

Founding theorist(s) for the selected theory

Dr. Murray Bowen, a researcher and a psychiatrist, developed the Bowen Family Systems Theory (BFST) in the late 1960s. Since 1913 to 1990, Dr. Bowen was researching family systems theory as he also interacted with diverse clients. According to Dr. Bowen, the BEFT was developed in the basis that the functioning of human beings occurs as a single emotional unit and the idea that it is easier for a therapist to understand patients and their problems only when he or she views them within the family ties and relationships ties (Aaron, 2018). Dr. Bowen also argued that dependence between members of a family enhances treatment effectiveness when the client’s family gets engaged during the treatment process.

Standard interventions for the selected theory

According to (Murdock, 2015), the main objective of Bowen family systems therapy is to separately assist the client from his or her family.
