CNL-500 Topic 6: Comparison Worksheet
Directions: Choose two family systems theories (Bowenian, Structural, Strategic, or Satir) and one individual counseling theory studied in this course (any theory studied in topics 1-5) and compare the three theories.
| Family Scenario: Jamie (mom), Angie (oldest daughter, 17), Annie (youngest daughter, 16)
Jamie is a single mother of 2 daughters, Angie and Annie. Jamie struggles to build her relationship with both of daughters and there are constant fights within the home. Angie tends to be more inclined to do tasks as requested but Annie refuses to do what she is told and gets angry when given consequences. Annie is currently in trauma counseling for sexual abuse from former stepdad and Angie is in EMDR for suspected abuse. Jamie has a history of not enforcing consequences up until recently due to not wanting to upset Annie and wanting things to be easier for her due to her abuse history. Jamie has created a chore chart and clear expectations for both Angie and Annie along with consequences when those are not met, however it does not appear to be working and the family is continuing to have constant fights about chores/consequences. The family is seeking counseling to help work on communication so that they can learn how to get along better and decrease the tension within the home. |
