Early Childhood Education: Learning Reflections
Write three Learning Reflections
The Reflections will draw from lectures, textbook/s, readings, the online provocations and your own experiences and insights as appropriate. The key idea is for you to do the readings, demonstrate your understanding, and then discuss how these may be reflected in a learning and teaching environment.
Your final assignment must include:
- Three reflections with a minimum of six academic references (two per reflection).
- Evidence of your online work (2 blog posts and 2 responses) must be attached below your assignment. Word is preferable.
Learning Reflection 1 – Genes, Environment and the beginning of life-prenatal period (500 words)
- Discuss genetic and environmental risks a foetus may face during the pre-natal period and their impact on later development.
- How might your knowledge of pre-natal development support you in your teaching practice?
Learning Reflection 2 – Language and Literacy (500 words)
- Discuss how nature and nurture contribute to language development giving specific examples that show how infants acquire language
- Describe an effective learning environment for fostering language and literacy with either infants, toddlers, or during early or middle childhood.
Learning Reflection 3 – Active bodies, active minds (500 words)
- Discuss how to support positive health and well-being of people over the lifespan. You are welcome to include a cultural perspective.
- Describe how you can create an environment in your ECE or primary school that supports healthy bodies and healthy minds.
Strong discussion with some relevant examples
Accessed literature and text/s showing evidence of reading and integration of information
Language mainly fluent. Minor errors in:
- Grammar
- Spelling
- Expression
- Referencing
