Early Reading Assessment 1
Assignment Overview:
The most effective way to teach reading has been the focus of global debate over the past decades. It is crucial to have an in-depth understanding of how oral language, concepts of print, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension on language and literacy development have helped to inform the development of approaches to the teaching of reading, particularly for children in the early years (birth to eight years of age). By completing a written report, this assignment provides you with opportunities to critically discuss how the teaching of the key components of early reading development can contribute to children learning to read; and to critically evaluate a teaching strategy and an assessment in early reading of your choosing. There is a requirement of a minimum of 12 references which includes at least 3 academic journal articles for this report. You can cite evidence from academic research, the Australian Curriculum (or state/territory equivalents), and other relevant education sources.
