HRP Options and Workforce Planning

Context

HRP (or workforce planning) is defined by the CIPD (2010:4) as ‘A core process of human resource management that is shaped by the organisational strategy and ensures the right number of people, with the right skills, in the right place and at the right time to deliver short- and long-term organisational objectives.’

Question

Critically evaluate three HRP options available to organisations to ensure the business has the people resources needed in order to achieve strategic goals. (Should include 1,500-2,000 words)

This means you need should begin by:

  • Defining the concept of HRP/workforce planning and the significance of how HRP supports the business strategy and makes HR strategic in a company;
  • Choose 3 HRP planning options and discuss them arguing how they ensure a company will have the people resources needed in order to achieve strategic goals e.g.

Learning objectives include:

  • Forecasting labour supply and demand (recruitment strategy)
  • Learning and Development in the HRP process
  • Talent management in the HRP process.
