Find two academic articles for research studies that use an action research design. These articles should come from professional, peer-reviewed journals in your field of interest. Write a 1500 word essay addressing each of the following points/questions.. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for each research study. The cover page and reference page do not count towards the minimum word amount.
1. Summarize each action research study by addressing the below prompts. Repeat these prompts for both studies you chose.
- What were the researchers trying to investigate in the study? What were the variables in the study?
- Who was in the participant sample? What biases or ethical issues exist as a result of this sample? Was there a comparison group? If so, explain how this strengthened the study. If not, describe how this potentially weakened the study.
- What was the research design of the study? In other words, how did they collect and analyze data? What confounding variables could have existed in the study? How did the researchers control for these confounding variables?
- Discuss the threats to internal and external validity in each study. What could be done to avoid these threats?
- What were the results of each study? What do the results teach you about the world around you?
- Did the study use a convenient sample or a random sample? How does sample type affect your interpretation of the results? What does this mean about generalizability of the results?
