The written activity is a stand-alone activity that is assessed separately to the activities that form the evidence portfolio. The written activity will allow the learner to display required knowledge and strategies that are essential when contextualising overall competency.

Task 1

Scenario

You are a Human Resources Manager at a large manufacturing business. The end of the year is fast approaching and your organisation will be shutting down for the mandatory 4 weeks to allow for the annual maintenance of all equipment.Business is booming and your Manufacturing Manager wants to get all orders completed before your organisation this will require you hire both sued and unsued casual staff.

Explain in 50 words for each element how you would develop each of the four elements of your project

  • Plan and allocate human resources to a project
  • Identify and organise project personnel training and development
  • Manage project personnel to achieve project outcomes
  • Apply human resource management (HRM) methods, techniques and tools to the project.

Task 2
Develop a budget for this project so that you are able to complete within the constraints

a. Your budget needs to use cost located for the recruitment, induction and training
b. Your budget needs to include the hourly rate for each position
c. Detail the continued cost on staff overtime

Task 3
Create a project schedule utilising the benefits of the following:

  • Summarise human resource management (HRM) methods, techniques and tools
  • Explain strategies for managing project human resources and their application to different situations
  • Explain processes used to measure individuals’ performance against agreed criteria
  • Explain techniques for managing and improving performance.

Refer to the scenario in Task 1 and provide an explanation of the competencies required:

  • What qualifications are needed
  • What experience is needed
  • What licences (if any) may be needed
  • What the availability requirements are there
