Organization Behavior Assignment

Task:

Your team assignment requires to address a number of essay questions.

Each student answers 2 questions. Advise: help/correct each other because this assignment will result in a grade for the whole team. These questions need to be answered pairwise, so either 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8 or 9 & 10.

The final question you have to answer together.

This means that:

  • A team that consists of 3 members answers 6 questions + the final question
  • A team that consists of 4 members answers 8 questions + the final question
  • A team that consists of 5 members answers 10 questions + the final question

Each answer to a question should cover no more than 1 page.

Questions:

  1. Briefly summarize the contents of the first article (Boone, Brabander & Witteloostuijn). What is/are the main question(s) the article seeks to answer? You can also look at: the background, methods, results, conclusions, recommendations. In addition: Based on the outcome of this study, form a new question (General question = Problem statement) for yourself with regard to this topic and search for two articles that would serve as a good start to look into this particular research field area. Provide arguments for choosing these articles.
  2. Critically review this article and state three points raised by this study that may give rise to discussion. You can be as creative or provocative as you like. And if you were the audience taking part in the discussion, how would you respond to these points? Search for three articles that substantiates your argumentation.

General question for the whole team:

  1. The final question invites you to critically review and reflect on all 5 articles that were presented in class. Some suggestions: What have you learned from these papers? Do you really believe these studies add to our knowledge on the issues involved, and do you have any suggestions how to (better?) investigate these topics in future research? Or can you make a comparison with some concepts in the book?

Finally:

If you have more than one page per question, reduce it.  Look at your main points and discuss with your team what is important and what might be left out to still make a good substantial argumentation for the point(s) that you want to make. (more than one page per question means a lower grade!) If you have less than one page and you think you have enough, it is not a problem.
