President Trump’s Covid-19 Response
Issue Title: Remarks by President Trump in a Meeting with Industry Executives on COVID-19 Response
President Trump’s administration is doing everything possible to contain the spread of the Coronavirus disease. In this issue, Trump appreciates industry executives for supporting his administration accelerate and increase America’s capacity to test COVID-19. The key issue here is distribution and medical diagnosis. President Trump is happy with the progress made so far in testing for Coronavirus across all states. Over the past forty-five days, America has managed to conduct over 5.4 million tests. No other country in the world has managed to match America in doing these tests. Trump appeals to business people, who have supported the government from the start, to continue supporting the government until America wins this COVID-19 battle. Trump’s concern is to conduct mass Coronavirus disease testing across all states, no matter the population or race, so that America can be safe.
In this healthcare issue, I have learned that President Trump is committed to partner and collaborate with the private sector to accelerate America’s capacity to test for COVID-19. Also, President Trump is focused to work with state governors to ensure they leverage the unused testing capacity in their states; the main objective is to diagnose and save lives. Due to this partnership and collaboration, the number of Coronavirus disease tests performed across the country per day has skyrocketed. Today, America is conducting way over 200,000 tests per days, and improvement from the previous 150,000 per day since President Trump encouraged governors to leverage their unused testing capacity. In addition, I have learned that Trump’s administration is focused to conduct more tests for African American, Hispanic American, and Asian American people. This exercise is non-bias; healthcare is an equal right for all.
However, I believe that testing alone is not enough. I would still encourage governors to budget more funds to increase bedding capacity in their isolation hospitals for purpose of treating COVID-19 victims. I would focus more on the recoveries, because unless at least 80 percent of COVID-19 patients recover, America would still be unsafe. In addition, I would encourage governments to preach the phrase “Stay Home, Stay Safe, Save Lives” to ensure that Americans will not be exposed to COVID-19. Still, maintaining physical/social distance and wearing face masks while in the public will help combat the spread of COVID-19. In conclusion, my main focus would be ensuring that COVID-19 does not spread further, for this would go further in reducing government’s expenditure to containing this disease.
