Should artificial intelligence be banned?
Annotated Bibliography: Should Artificial Intelligence be banned?
Parnas, The real risks of artificial intelligence. Communications of the ACM, vol. 60, no. 10, pp. 27-31, Oct. 2017.
In this book, Parnas points out that the AI has various risks which would cause a breakdown of the function the machine is programmed to do. I found the risks mentioned in this book helpful in arguing in support of banning artificial intelligence. The information in this article is up to date and thus it is still useful to base my argument of the research paper. Most of the risks mentioned here concern the lives of people who use the machines and even those who do not find themselves affected by the technology.
Kaplan, Artificial intelligence: Think Again. Communications of the ACM, vol. 60, no. 1, pp. 36-38, Jan. 2017.
In this article, Kaplan calls for the public to think critically about embracing the AI technology, by weighing the negative outcomes over the positive ones. I found this article useful in my argument supporting the ban of AI because the author features the abilities of the machines which may surpass those of the human beings, hence a challenge. Kaplan, emphasizes thinking again whether people are sure and ready to implement the use of AI technology. It poses the question of whether people are ready to face the outcomes for using the AI.

“Advantages and Disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence – WiseStep”, WiseStep, 2018. [Online]. Available: https://content.wisestep.com/advantages-disadvantages-artificial-intelligence/. [Accessed: 28- Oct- 2018].
This source had a lot of information about the pros and cons of artificial intelligence. Although I was not interested in the advantages, the disadvantages discussed in this resources helped me a lot in my research. The disadvantages guided me in providing ideas for my research as to why this technology should be banned. I did not find the benefits useful for my research hence only picked what was relevant. The article did not have a specific author, however, it contained general information about the AI technology.
