Unfortunately, all age groups in America are affected by this trend. Surprisingly, children are also immune to obesity. America is a country with educational, employment, and financial opportunities and tipping in unhealthy ways is a sad fact. This essay will discuss obesity in America and analyze how it exposes people to diabetes, stroke, heart diseases, cancer, and other dangerous diseases. Obesity and overweight is the leading health concern in the U.S. and has hit epidemic proportions.
Obesity is a serious chronic disease and a U.S. epidemic that adversely affects the functioning of human body. In the U.S., both adult and children are affected by obesity. Obese people are exposed to a higher risk of developing serious health problems such as heart disease and diabetes. The U.S Surgeon General report shows that obesity is an epidemic with approximately 31 percent of men, 35 percent of women, and 15 percent of women affected. Poor diet consumption and physical inactivity are slowly catching up with tobacco as a major health living threat. Born and joint diseases also result from obesity, and this impairs walking power (Dawes, 2014). Diabetes is when the human body is unable to produce and responds to insulin hormone in an impaired manner leading to abnormal metabolism in the blood.
The World Health Organization explains that lack of body exercise is another cause of obesity. Decades have passed from the time Americans did physical exercises in the field; nowadays there is less exercise by Americans in their day to day activities.
