This awareness will help you understand systemic concerns in criminal justice that you may encounter in your daily roles and responsibilities. In this assessment, you will consider crucial issues related to crime and justice.
Research 2 issues related to crime and justice and their impact in your community. Examples include:
- Facial recognition technology
- Predictive policing/profiling
- Bail/bond inequity
- Use of force
- Mass incarceration
- Sentencing guidelines
- Judicial and prosecutorial discretion
- Other, with faculty member approval
Create a 10- to 12-slide presentation with detailed speaker notes in which you explain 2 critical crime and justice issues in the criminal justice discipline.
Audience: Develop your presentation from the perspective of a concerned citizen speaking at a city council meeting in your city. You want to raise awareness about the impact of these issues in your community.

- Support your responses with relevant details and/or examples, where appropriate.
- Incorporate concepts you have learned from the Weeks 1 and 2 textbook readings to support your ideas.
