What is a business consultant?

A business consultant is an experienced professional who offer expert advice for organizations to help them improve performance, primarily through an analysis of the existing business problems and creation of improvement plans (Sekaran and Bougie, 2016, p. 3). Business consulting contributes to major shifts in management, but business consultants are not accountable of the consultancy services outcome. Companies hire business consultants for various reasons and these reasons will be properly analyzed in this project.

What Business Consultants are required to do once they are appointed to a Project?

Business consultants have diverse exposure to and relationships with many organizations. Also, consultants are well-versed with the industry’s “best-practices”. Due to this, organizations hire and task business consultants with various roles towards the successful completion of a project ((Sekaran and Bougie, 2016, p. 22). Once appointed to a project, business consultants are required to do the following:

Information gathering: Business consultants are required to design and gather sufficient and appropriate data that relate to the project under investment. Consultants are expected to collect qualitative data through focus groups and interviews from the external stakeholders to assist the management in decision making.
