American History – Period 1950-2000
Task Instructions:
- Based on American history – In what ways did Americans’ opinions about mothers, work, and child care change and stay the same over the period 1950-2000, and what factors influenced those changes?
Must Follow these Instructions:
- Cite specific examples from the primary sources for each stage of the argument.
- Present examples almost entirely in your own words. If you quote at all, quote only from primary sources (words from the past), quote sparingly, and quote only when the original words help strengthen the meaning. Introduce a quotation by placing it in the context of your argument, and by pointing out who is speaking or writing.
- Do not quote directly from the background portions of the chapter, or from The American Yawp, lectures, or other secondary sources. If you use background information from these sources, be sure to paraphrase in your own words, and provide footnote citations to the page(s) where you found the information.
- Use only the primary documents found in the “Source” section, pages 336-354 (5th edition) THE LINK ABOVE, Morin and Rosenfeld article, and background information from the rest of the chapter, The American Yawp, and the lectures.
- DO NOT do additional research for this paper, and DO NOT use any internet sources in the text of the paper. Failure to observe this requirement will result in a lower grade, possibly a failing grade.
Every paragraph in the body of the paper should be explicitly tied to the thesis, and support it with examples and logic. Every paragraph should start with a clear topic sentence that lays out the subject of that paragraph, and connects it to the overall thesis of the paper
