Annotated Bibliography: Should Artificial Intelligence be banned?

Parnas, The real risks of artificial intelligence. Communications of the ACM, vol. 60, no. 10, pp. 27-31, Oct. 2017.

Risks of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence poses various risks to the lives of human beings. Parnas points out that the AI has various risks which would cause a breakdown of the function the machine is programmed to do. I found the risks mentioned in this book helpful in arguing in support of banning artificial intelligence. The information in this article is up to date and thus it is still useful to base my argument of the research paper. Most of the risks mentioned here concern the lives of people who use the machines and even those who do not find themselves affected by the technology.

Factors to Consider Before Accepting the Use of AI

In this article, Kaplan calls for the public to think critically about embracing the AI technology, by weighing the negative outcomes over the positive ones. I found this article useful in my argument supporting the ban of AI because the author features the abilities of the machines which may surpass those of the human beings, hence a challenge. Kaplan, emphasizes thinking again whether people are sure and ready to implement the use of AI technology. It poses the question of whether people are ready to face the outcomes for using the AI.
