This assignment relates to the following Course Learning Requirements:

  • CLR #1 – Apply the training and development process to an organizational setting.
  • CLR #2 – Design an employee training program in an organizational setting.
  • CLR #3 – Describe and apply employee training theories and concepts.

Objective of this Assignment:    To apply training and development concepts and processes to a specific training issue.

Instructions:  

Step 1:

Choose a scenario for your assignment:

You are a training professional in a small company and have been asked to develop a training program for one of the following three scenarios:

  1. Production in your printing area has declined. You have recently hired a number of new employees and believe that is the cause of the decline in production.
  2. Your company had a major gas leak and you discovered the response to the leak was chaotic and not well organized. As a result, two of your employees were injured.
  3. It has come to your attention that you are having retention issues in your circulation area. Four employees have quit in the last month and they all worked for the same manager.

Step 2:

Prepare a 15-20 page (not including the cover page and reference page) paper to be used when presenting your plan to the general manager.  Keep in mind, the manager knows nothing about training and wants a solution that is both quick and responsive.  The assignment has the following deliverables.

Make sure to apply each item below specifically to your chosen scenario:

  • An introduction (2%)
  • A needs analysis (5%)
  • A discussion/description of learning, learning styles and motivation (3%)
  • Training objectives (3%)
  • A recommendation of delivery methods and the rationale for your choices (3%)
  • A draft lesson plan, design plan and implementation plan for the training that includes training logistics and the identification of trainees (2%)
  • A costing model (5%)
  • An evaluation model (5%)
  • Summary and recommendations (2%)

Step 3:

  1. This assignment will be graded based on the rubric on pages 2 and 3.
  2. Your assignment is to be submitted in MS WORD format. It should be submitted with the following guidelines:
    • Include a cover page with the course code and course name, the assignment number, the title of your assignment, your student ID, your name, the instructor’s name, and the date the assignment is created.
    • Ensure the first page of your assignment has the title at the top of the page and the sections of your report have headings and subheadings to chunk your paper into sections for each of the topics you are writing about.
    • Font should be either Calibri or Arial, 11pt.
    • You must cite all your sources of information using APA formatting.
    • Create a separate reference page that lists all of your sources that you have cited in text. Sources include software used.
