Assignment Task

Discuss your assessment practices by including the following points in about 2000 words.

  • Select a subject found in UPSR/PT3/SPM/IB/IGCSE/UEC.
  • Construct a test to assess your students.
  • Explain the process you use to construct a test to assess your students.
  • Discuss how you would assess the validity, reliability and practicality of the test.
  • Explain the rationale of the form you would report your grades in.
  • Deliberate how grades from that test would help you as a teacher to improve your teaching.

Assignment Guidelines and Marks Allocation

Introductory Paragraph (10 marks)

Select a subject found in UPSR/PT3/SPM/IB/IGCSE/UEC and provide a brief explanation about how assessment is usually conducted in the education curriculum selected.

Body (60 marks)

  • Construct a test to assess your students. Decide if the test is formal or informal, formative or summative etc. Provide a draft of the test in the appendix. The draft would not be counted as part of the word count. (10 marks)
  • Explain the process you use to construct a test to assess your students. Refer to Unit 5 for more information. (10 marks)
  • Discuss how you would assess the validity, reliability and practicality of the test you have created above. (15 marks)
  • Identify how you would present your grades to your students. Provide the rationales for your selection. (10 marks)
  • Deliberate on how grades from that test would inform you as a teacher to address your students’ needs and to improve your teaching to help them. (15 marks)

Concluding Paragraph (10 marks)

  • Reflect on what you have learnt from your assignment and how it helps in your development as an educator.

References

List out at least 3 relevant sources for the assignment in the APA style. Content of the assignment accounts for 80 marks as shown above whereas the other 20 marks are awarded for writing style as follows:

Organisation & Language (10 marks)

  • Coherence – sentences and paragraphs.
  • Adherence to prescribed format such as use of sub-headings, paragraphing and
    word count.
  • Accuracy – correct grammar usage
  • Appropriate choice of vocabulary

Referencing (10 marks)

  • Evidence of sufficient references to at least 3 academic sources in discussion.
  • Adherence to correct APA style in in-text citations and references.
