- Between the end of the Civil War and the early twentieth century, the United States underwent one of the most rapid and profound economic revolutions any country has ever experienced. In what became known as America’s “Gilded Age,” the country witnessed deep and sometimes violent divisions in as a rapidly industrializing society. Write an essay that gives two examples from the primary sources in Voices of Freedom chapter 16 that highlights different views of social and/or economic disparity during the Gilded Age. Your “how-conclusion” should compare or contrast the authors, audiences, and the purposes of your two chosen documents.
