Website Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to become more familiar with local and online resources, diseases related to aging and ways that families and caregivers are affected. You are to go to BOTH websites and answer the questions listed below. This is a two-part assignment, please write part one about dementia and Alzheimer’s and answer those questions and then part two answer the questions related to AARP.

Part One-Dementia and Alzheimer’s

You are to visit www.alz.org which is a website dedicated to learning more about dementia and Alzheimer’s and discusses a variety of ways to support those who are affected. Click on the ‘Help and Support” tab and you will find six categories that you can explore. Choose two of these for this assignment. Please write about the following:

1. What kind of support are they offering? Did you find it helpful and why or why not?
2. How does this section help support the person with the disease?
3. What kind of resources are there for the caregivers and families?
4. What did you learn by going to this website?
5. What surprised you?
6. How can you use this information either now in your current position? Or in a future position?

Part-Two-AARP

You are to visit www.aarp.org  and answer the following questions:

1. List three things that you noticed on the home page and how you think this information would be helpful to someone over 55 years old? How would you use this information to help a client/patient?
2. Go to the Menu page and scroll through the different selections available. Click onto three choices and comment about the information available on each; include the following:
   1. What was your reaction to these pages knowing that this website is for older adults?
   2. How do you think AARP approaches aging? Give an example.
   3. Look at the way the page is displayed and comment about the images, wording, etc.? Is it culturally competent?
3. Overall what is your impression of the website? Would you recommend it to someone who is aging?

Please type this assignment in 12 point font, double spaced with one inch margins with a minimum of 750 words maximum of 1,000.
