KIT709 Enterprise Architecture and System
You need to form into groups of 3 students to work on two papers about ERP implementation. The case study documentsare provided in a separate pdf documents in Assignments folder on Mylo. You are required to writea report that covers the following aspects:
What I need only this part in my assignment.
- Provide an introduction about of the ERP implementation solutions, ERP systems importance and how ERP can help the Spanish metal transformation firms. (600 word main focus on solution)
- With reference to the first paper, discuss the ERP evaluation factors and the analytical process (500 main please focus).
Your report should be up to 2,000 words in length (excluding the counting of Table of Content, Table of Figures, References ) and must be submitted via MyLO by the due date. The Discipline’s Late Assessments policy describes the penalties for late submission and also explains what to do if you are unable to hand in your assignment on time for genuine reasons, such as illness.
Appendix A of this document will outline the marking criteria for this report.
Marks will be allocated for the quality of content, evidence of research, general organisation and flow of the report, including use of appropriate headings and sub-headings, effective use of diagrams, bullet points, tables etc. Grammar, spelling and writing style are also significant.
Your business report must contain an executive summary, table of content, introduction, body of report with meaningful headings and subheadings, a conclusion and references.
Introduction
Introduce your report and state its purpose and focus. Highlight why the topic is important. Give an outline of the content / organisation of the remainder of the report and summarise your recommendations.
Body: Research and Discussion
This is the ‘heart’ of your report and should provide evidence of careful and thorough research. You need to show that you have: read widely around the topics identified in ‘Requirements for Your Report’ (together with any areas you uncover during your literature review); analysed your reading effectively; presented your findings in a logical manner; identified the major factors associated with your topic; and drawn logical and useful conclusions (if applicable) from your analysis.
You can consider having5 sections in this report with each section covering one bullet point in the Assignment Requirements above.
Do remember to give each section a short meaningful Subtitle rather than using a long sentence as a subtitle. For example, assuming you make your first section as Introduction, you could structure your answer to bullet point 1 as the following (You can design your own report according to your preferences):
- Introduction
- ERP implementation solutions etc
Conclusion
In your conclusion section you have two tasks: to summarise your arguments and to identify interesting, worrying or critical lessons learned from your analysis and discussion. It can be viewed as a ‘so what?’ section of a report, because it allows you to show the reader why it’s been worth your while to undertake the research.
Referencing
Detailed information on how to use referencing properly is available on the UTAS website at: http://www.learningsupport.utas.edu.au/Resources/referencing.htm.
Remember – while I will be expecting a complete Reference List formatted according to the UTAS Harvard standards, it is NOT sufficient simply to list all your sources at the end of your report – you MUST cite them as you go.
No reference should appear in the bibliography unless it is referenced in the text of your report. You must support all assertions in your report with citations and ensure you include all the material you use: not to do so is plagiarism. If you are treating any reference as an ‘authority’, you need to use a different citation format from the one you use when simply adding a citation to an assertion, e.g.
- The ‘authority’ approach: Hinds (2011) believes that SCM is really …
- The ‘reference’ approach: Many authors discuss the issue of ERP implementations (Hinds 2011; Smith & Williams 2010), but …
When you actually quote from a source, you must use quotation marks + a page number (if one exists – page numbers are not available with Web references, of course). Try to limit the amount of direct quotation and close paraphrasing to the minimum in your report.
If you do not properly follow the guidelines for referencing, you are liable to lose 15% of the marks for this assignment. More serious cases will be dealt with under the University’s academic integrity policy.
You might care to take this opportunity to find out how to use a referencing database and tool – e.g. EndNote, which is available from the UTAS library at http://utas.libguides.com/endnote
You will lose marks for: omitting the table of contents; for not structuring the report logically; for poor or inconsistent formatting and layout of the report and, above all, for incorrect use of referencing.
