Management Challenge In Practice Assignment
Purpose of the assignment:
This assignment is designed to get you to think more deeply about how you might solve the management challenge and why your chosen approach could be the “best way.” The main focus is on you discovering the best possible organizational process in realizing the proposed direction of the company. That is, the question is more about how to design both soft and hard processes (e.g., leadership/culture, ethics/CSR, and/or HRM) to help implement the proposed strategic goal of the company. For managers to ensure the macro level of their strategic goal to be successful, they have to examine the realization of it within the organization by looking at meso and micro level of organizational process.
Requirements for the assignment:
Re-state the problem in the context of your chosen management perspective as a research question.
You should do some research on ‘how best to formulate a research question.’
- Undertake a literature review of management literature that will help you to better understand the nature of the management challenge, how theory can inform a solution and what (if anything) has been tried before to solve this kind of problem (e.g. Has this challenge occurred before? Maybe in another industry? Has it been solved?)
- Identify and select appropriate tools, models and theories that will help you to understand the problem through the lens you have chosen.
These should be from scholarly sources.
Write a report justifying why your research approach to solving the management challenge should be adopted.
Use a report format.
Save your document with the following naming convention: (Assignment number, Student number) e.g. Assignment 2, S123456
Appendix: Write a 500-word response to the feedback you received in your first assignment and what you did in reaction to that feedback to develop your approach to achieving success in this assignment (this does not count towards your total word count).
More discussion about 2nd assignment:
With this assignment, you become the designer of both tangible and intangible aspects organization process, given the emergent challenges that our PO is facing (based on 1st assignment).
For example,
- When the environments of our PO requires them to engage in change management, which area of HRM do we have to pay attention to? Selection? Development? Retention? Why and How?
- What kind of leadership and subsequent cultures need to be formed? Why and How?
- Are there ethical aspects we have to consider with internal and external stakeholders? Why and How?
- In designing an overall organizational process, you have to consider an overall alignment between HRM, leadership/culture, and ethics to make sure they all say the same thing when communicating with and motivating employees.
- A starting point could be to extend the McKinsey 7s framework.
Is about last assignment and i put the last assignment in here and the comment for last assignment
(You’ve demonstrated a fair effort in responding to the task requirements.
Here is a summary of what you have done well:
- You have an effort in following the instruction in writing this report.
- You have an attempt to use several management models/tools to analyse both EY PAS Melbourne internal and external environments.
- You used several references to support your discussion
Here are areas for improvement:
- Although you used different management models/tools for analysis, it did not seem that you understand how to use them in practice. Many parts of your discussion was off-tract or irrelevant. Please see comments in the submitted file for details.
- The data you conducted for the analysis was poor. Not much information about EY PAS Melbourne were provided in your analysis.
- You tried to define the challenge that EY PAS Melbourne might face and also tried to create a connection between that challenge and your discussion, but the persuasiveness of your argument is low and the connection you created did not really make sense.)
