MGT 9028 Marketing Assignment 2 – Individual Assignment 

Task:

Maintaining sustainable development as the guiding vision for all business, consider the findings from Assignment 1. Focusing on the organisation’s marketing mix, decide on a new plan for going forward that will orientate the organisation’s efforts for competitive advantage. Justify your decisions making use of both theory and industry inputs.

In 2015, countries adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which provides a global blueprint for business worldwide to commit to sustainability by taking shared responsibility for achieving a better world. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals, apply universally to all countries irrespective of their level of economic development; they are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental. Achieving economic interests, building economic growth and promoting prosperity must go together with strategies that address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection (United Nations, 2019).

You may find the following steps useful:

  1. Consider the key findings related to situation analysis carried out in Assignment 1.
  2. Consider the 5 Ps (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership) targeted by sustainable development (The 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda).
  3. Clearly identify one of the 5 Ps (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership) that in your view will orientate the company in its efforts to achieve/enhance competitive advantage.
  4. Develop a marketing mix plan, addressing each marketing mix variable and its planned contribution to your chosen strategy for competitive advantage under the selected P.

Here are some suggested headings for your written report; they are not definitive and you have considerable license to develop your own.

  1. Summary of key findings from the situation analysis completed in Assignment 1.
  2. Clear identification of the most relevant P (from the 5 that include: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership) with justification on why you think it is relevant to your organisation’s efforts towards competitive advantage.
  3. Marketing mix plan addressing each of the marketing mix variables and their main contribution to the achievement/enhancement of competitive advantage, under the the chosen P.

This assessment will expect to see evidence of:

  1. A clear focus on the question
  2. Critical and thoughtful analysis
  3. Wide reading, including appropriate citation
  4. A literate and articulate writing style

The essay should be typed and referenced fully. The essay should be Times New Roman font 12 with page numbers, headings (either the ones suggested above or those constructed by yourself), and no more than 1,500 words excluding references.
