Assignment:

Prison subculture is a lifestyle that reflects criminal values and behavior patterns characteristic of criminally incarcerated persons. It is interesting to note that prison subculture shows amazing consistency among prisons across the United States. It is also a subculture that has evolved as new generations of convicts arrive. Prisonization is defined as the socialization of new inmates into prison subcultures. What similarities do you notice between prison society, as described by your textbook, and free society? What differences? What might account for the similarities? For the differences?
