Robotics on Hype Cycle Discussion

Where is robotics on the hype cycle?

The hype cycle describes a branded graphical representation used to develop technologies in the organization.   Robotics are usually placed on the second phase of the hype cycle, where a peak of inflated expectations occurs (Redick, 2019).  Here, early publicity results in various success stories, as well as some failures. Some companies implement actions while others hesitate. Robotics is evidenced in the additional technology-related applications such as Virtual Realtiyoijn, self-driving cars, CRM, and Virtual Personal Assistant. Mobile robots sense and manipulate data in remote areas, which are unreachable by humans (Redick, 2019).

How does its placement affect other pieces within the hype cycle?

The placement of robots improves workers’ performance in the organization and enhances the level of customer satisfaction through augmentation devices. Through the robotic devices, the effectiveness of employees is enhanced through minimal errors and increased output levels. Besides, they increase innovation capability as more skills are available and easy to adapt with the help of machines (Van der Aalst et al., 2018). This ensures an increased rate of organizational growth.  Generally, robots ease the work of human beings by increasing efficiency, effectiveness, and high performance.

Provide an example that supports your ideas.

An example of the role played by robotic placement in the hype cycle is through employees with a wearable computing device, which extends the capabilities and reaches of an individual (Strawn, 2021).  Wearable devices can filter the calls monitor health, and remind you of important events. Another example is a mobile robot working with a warehouse employee in moving around objects and boxes (Strawn, 2021). The robot eases the work of the employee by saving the energy required to move the boxes. Also, a cognitive virtual assistant acts as a customer representative. These examples explain how robots play a role in the hype cycle.
