Critical Riview
The purpose of this assessment is to critically review the unique cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in order to provide culturally safe care.
A critical review is a summarisation and evaluation of ideas and information. In your assessment, you must:
1. Use three (3) examples of Aboriginal and Torres Strait cultural health care/practice. These examples will likely differ from Australian health care models, systems, guidelines or policies. For example, Traditional healing and medicine, dying in land, etc.
2. Critically review each example, considering:
- How your examples differ for the Australian healthcare model/system/guideline/policy
- Evaluate what could be done by registered nurses to provide culturally safe health care
