  • With reference to Job Analysis and Job Design critically evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of the Results Only Work Environment presented in the video.
  • The current global pandemic has changed the way many people around the world work. Ask someone you know who has been working from home about their experiences with remote work (advantages and disadvantages) and summarize them briefly. Would they like to continue to work fully remotely? Justify.
  • Choose one alternative flexibility program and critically analyze its merits. As a manager, which criteria would you consider when choosing the best program for your employees?
Clearly justify your answer.
Each of the above two tasks is worth 50 possible points, 100 points total.
Formalities:
  • Word-count: 1500 words (+/- 10%)
  • Cover, Table of Contents, References and Appendix are excluded from the total word-count.
  • Font: Arial 12 pts.
  • Text alignment: Justified.
  • The in-text References and the Bibliography have to be in Harvard’s citation style

This assignment assesses the student’s comprehension of flexibility programs as an important component of job design in today’s organizations.

Proposed approach towards the task completion:
Introduction:
  • Define job analysis.
  • State what role flexibility programs play in these processes

Video Analysis:

  • Based on the video explain what a ROWE is.
  • What are the benefits and potential drawbacks of this program?
  • Interview someone who has been working from home and summarize their experiences with this type of work arrangement.
Alternative Flexibility Programs:
  • Choose at least 1 alternative flexibility program.
  • Discuss in detail its structure. How does it work?
  • Identify its benefits and drawbacks.
  • Are there any specific industries where some flexibility programs may work better than others? Explain.
As an owner of a chosen business, would you introduce any of these programs? If so, which ones? Justify.
Conclusions.
Checklist:

  • Does it entail all the key elements listed above?
  • Is the topic well researched? Did I use at least 3 credible sources (please note Wikipedia is not a credible source, neither are any documents, whose authorship cannot be verified (i.e. random blogs). Use official HR textbooks, organizations such as the SHRM, scientific, peer-reviewed articles etc.
  • Is the similarity within the acceptable 8% limit? (excluding bibliography and cover page/assignment elements)
  • Did I include a complete bibliography?
  • Did I proof read? Are the spelling and grammar correct?
  • Did I respect the word-count?

All of the above points will be considered in the grading process, please note that writing and reporting (the last 4 points) are worth 10%, so do not neglect them.
