Questions
Questions (1):
Please prepare a poster focusing on an area of interest around your practice. The poster will be framed around the steps of the evidence- based practice process and demonstrate achievement of the course learning outcomes.
Poster paper guidelines: Your poster should be one page. You should have a number of clear headings in your poster under which you will showcase the best available evidence you have amassed on your chosen topic. The following are some suggestions of headings you can use in your poster;
Title: Your PICO (T) question is your title. It should clearly reflect the main theme of your poster, contain a maximum of 8-15 words and should attract the reader’s attention. The title should be followed by your name and your qualifications in smaller font.
Introduction
This should be a sentence or two, for example:
- This poster will present a discussion on the best available evidence underpinning the… (refer to your chosen topic).
- Provide clear rationale for topic selection.
Literature Search
In this section you begin with a paragraph detailing your search strategy, how you searched the literature; databases accessed, limiters applied/keywords used, and success/difficulties encountered, quality of evidence amassed.
Evidence Synthesis
This is the main body of your poster where you are required to present a critical review of the evidence relating to the topic under focus. It should be presented in well-defined paragraphs or sub themes for clarity. Demonstrate a logical flow and systematic sequence of information. Ensure content is evenly spaced out.
Implementation/Recommendations and Conclusion
This section should highlight 2 to 3 key implications relating to practice, education, research and policy (where relevant) based on the evidence amassed. It should include information on EBP implementation approaches/strategies useful to introduce & promote sustained engagement in practice. Recommendations for future practice offered. Suggested inclusions:

- It is necessary to ….
- National protocols in … are needed
References
Please ensure material presented is based on evidence and provide references to support (both in-text and with a reference list at the end). The reference list can be furnished in small font size (12-14) and included at the bottom of your poster. Please adhere to APA 6th edition referencing guidelines throughout the poster paper.
Question (2):
An investigator would like to study the knowledge of staff nurses regarding nosocomial infection control practices in a selected tertiary care hospital. The following questions shall be answered in respect of the above paragraph.
- What is the best research design for the study mentioned above? Justify your answer.
- List the purpose of the study mentioned above.
Question (3):
Read the excerpt that follows from an article describing a study testing “the Effect of Educational Program for Health Promoting Lifestyle among Patients with Hypertension” and answer the following questions:
- What is the type of sampling technique used for this study? Write a brief description of the sampling technique used?
- What are the inclusion and exclusion criteria used for this study?
Participants consisted of patients with hypertension recruited from medical, cardiac, and neurological outpatient clinics at Benha University Hospital. The sample size was calculated based on the previous year census report of admission in medical, cardiac and neurological outpatient clinic from Benha University Hospital Census, 2015. Convenient sample of 104 hypertensive patients attending the study settings … Eligible participants were adults aged 20 and above. Inclusion criteria were as follows: (a) both sexes (male and female); (b) diagnosed with hypertension for at least six months; (c) able to communicate; and (d) accept to participate in the study, while excluded patients who are diagnosed as serious cardiac problems such as myocardial infarction. The mean age of participants was (39.86±10.28) years. (70.2%) were male and (73.1%) were married, and (63.5) % had secondary level of education, (43.3%) were working in public sectors and (68.3%) had insufficient income.
