Addiction Counseling: Movie Assignment

Assignment:

Student must pick a movie from the below list to watch and write a paper that includes the listed topics. NO need for a synopsis of the movie. Remember to cite and reference the movie according to APA 6th ed. guidelines. This could easily be a 7 (body) page paper. If you will write the paper in the sections listed below, you can ensure that you are addressing all aspects of the paper. Failure to address any section will result in a significant loss of points.

Criteria

  1. Address the identified client and any particular risk factors as well as the progression or stages of the disease. Specific examples should be given.
  2. Address interventions or treatments that the addict attempted. Discuss what assessment you would have used to determine the presence of the addiction. Discuss your rationale for using that particular assessment. Discuss the issues that could possibly have interfered with the intervention or treatment.
  3. Discuss the co-occurring disorder/s manifested by the client. Identify other victims (in the client’s circle of friends and family) of the disease and give specific examples.
  4. Discuss what specific evidence-based treatment approach you would use with this client. Discuss the theoretical approach you would incorporate into your treatment as you work with the client.
  5. Self-reflect about watching the movie. Discuss your thoughts and feelings while watching the movie and afterwards. In what ways did this movie affect you? How have your thoughts about addiction changed based on watching the movie?
