Psychology Discussion Post Assignment
Question: What elements of Wundt’s or James’ approaches relate to your own view of what psychology is?
Elements of Wundt’s structural approach, and elements of James’ functionalist approach both relate to my own view of what psychology is. From a structuralist perspective, I like the emphasis on distinct psychological phenomena such as sensations, feelings, and internal imagery. I concur with Wundt, that analysing psychological process in distinctive structures can assist our comprehension of the whole conscious experience (Woody & Viney, 2017).
